1. In Analysis Studio,
a simple calculation is to switch between showing your data as values or as
percentages of the total. Let's look at the revenue as a percentage of the row
total, so we can see which sales person contributed the most revenue in a quarter.
Click the Revenue
cell (right-click in the product), click Show Values As, and then click
% of Each Row Total.
2. Now, let's return
to showing the actual values. You can also show your data in other ways, by
selecting from the menu.
Click the Revenue
cell again (right-click in the product) and then click Show Values As,
Actual Values.
3. Now lets
create a calculation to show the percentage growth of the revenue between
the first and second quarters.
Ctrl+click the area around the 2006 Q 2 and 2006 Q 1 column labels
and then click the calculate button
.
4. Analysis Studio
shows a list of possible calculations, based on the items you selected. Lets
use the % Difference calculation.
Click % Difference
(2006 Q 2, 2006 Q 1). Click the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of
the crosstab to scroll to the right.
5. When you no
longer need data in the crosstab, you can delete the sets of items that you
created on the rows and columns and the calculated rows or columns that you
created. For this analysis, we want to remove the percentage difference column
that we just created.
Click the % Difference
(2006 Q 2, 2006 Q 1) column header then click the delete button
on the toolbar.
6. Now lets
assume that we want to see our data ranked by the 2006 Q 1 column.
Click the area around
the 2006 Q 1 column header. Click the calculate button
and then click Rank (2006 Q1).
7. Lets save
the Staff name set so that we can reuse it later in our analysis. A custom
set saves the current view of a set of rows or columns, including sort, filter,
and calculations, and appears on the Analysis Items tab in the Insertable
Objects pane.
Under Rows, click
Staff name to select the set. Click the save as custom set button
on the toolbar. Click the Name box and click OK.
In
this lesson, you learned how to change the data between values and percentages,
how to insert a calculation, how to delete and rank data, and how to save
data as a custom set.

the upper-right corner to return to the list of lessons, or try one of the
