1. Instead of quantity
sold, you decide that you want to see revenue. Because you previously assigned
sort criteria to the 2006 data, Analysis Studio automatically re-sorts when
you change the measure.
In the Insertable Objects pane, click the plus sign (+) next to the Measures
folder to expand it. Click Revenue and watch as it is dragged to replace
Quantity sold.
2. One of the powerful
features in Analysis Studio is the ability to drill down on a member to see
a lower level of detail. For example, instead of revenue by year, we want to
look at the four quarters that make up 2006.
Pause the pointer over
the 2006 column label. When the hyperlink appears, click the label.
3. To help you use
screen space more efficiently, you can specify which subtotals to show and which
subtotals to hide for each set. For our analysis, we dont need to see
the More subtotal for the Sales Territory set, so lets hide it.
Click the More row for Americas (right-click in the product) and click
Hide.
4. We want to focus
on the revenue for the mail order method. To filter the values that are shown
in the work area, we use a context filter. We can use any member in the Insertable
Objects pane as the context filter criteria.
Expand the Order Method
dimension, click Mail (right-click in the product), and click Filter
as Context. Use the Web browser scrollbar on the right to scroll down.)
5. We now only
see value for mail orders and Mail is shown under Context at the top
of the work area. Now lets see what our data looks like when displayed
graphically.
Click the chart button
on the toolbar. Click Column Chart and then click Standard.
6. The column chart
appears very cluttered. Let's remove the sales territories to see a simpler
chart for only the sales staff.
Under Rows, click
Sales Territory to select the set. Click the delete button
.
7. Lets change
the display so we see only the chart.
Click the display button
on the toolbar and
then click Chart.
8. In Analysis Studio,
you can drill down for further details in a chart in the same way that you do
in a crosstab. You can click a legend item, an axis item, or a bar. Lets
look at the revenue for 2006 Q 4.
Pause the pointer over
the label for 2006 Q 4 until the pointer changes to a hand. Click the
hyperlink.
In this lesson, you learned
how to change the measure in your crosstab, drill down for details, hide items,
focus on significant items, and show data as a chart.
