1. Analysis Studio is designed around sets. You focus on the items, or sets of items, in the rows and columns. The three sets in this analysis, Sales Territory, Product name, and Years, are highlighted. You can add quantitative data, filters, or calculations to manipulate items and create relationships between the items.

2. Analysis Studio provides enhanced capabilities for set-based analysis. You can apply various actions to the sets, such as sorting, filtering, and adding calculations, by right-clicking a set or clicking the action you want on the toolbar.
Select the Product
name set (click either the Product name box in the overview area
or the set selector bar
)
to see the actions available from the right-click menu. Click Next
to continue.
3. Analysis Studio allows you to explore and analyze large data sets. It allows you to search for and retrieve only items that interest you. For example, in the analysis below, the Insertable Objects tree limits the number of items shown in the By Staff name level.
Click By staff name to see an animation of how you can search for a specific item that does not appear in the tree.
4. By default, Analysis Studio also limits the number of items that appear in the work area to help you focus your analysis. Clicking the More menu in the work area allows you to see additional items. You can also change the default number of visible items from the Settings menu.

5. The dimension bar of PowerPlay Web is enhanced in Analysis Studio, and is now an interactive overview area. It is a convenient place to quickly explore and change the contents of the work area. You can see which groups of items have filters and sorting applied, swap individual groups of rows and columns, or drill up or down.

6. To filter values in Analysis Studio, you drag an item to the Context area in the overview area. Lets filter this analysis to show only revenue generated by Direct Marketing sales.
In the Insertable Objects tree, click Direct Marketing and watch as it is dragged to the Context area to filter the analysis.
In this lesson, you learned about some of the important differences between PowerPlay Web and Analysis Studio to help you get started with you own analysis.
